Flexible Benefits Model

Bicycle Scheme

With the Bicycle Scheme, part of the flexible benefits model, you can make sustainable commuting even more attractive. Once every five years, you can purchase a bicycle, e‑bike, e‑scooter, or battery pack at a reduced cost. You exchange part of your gross salary for a net reimbursement for your bike and helmet, giving you a significant tax advantage. As an extra incentive, you also receive a €150 net cycling bonus. Good for you — and good for the environment.

Commuting Allowance

At Radboudumc, your commuting is well taken care of. Employees are entitled to a travel allowance in accordance with the CLA umc. The amount you receive depends on the distance you travel and the mode of transportation you use. If you commute on foot or by bicycle, you receive €0.18 per kilometer, with no maximum travel distance. If you travel by car, the allowance is €0.18 per kilometer up to a maximum of 40 kilometers one‑way. If you use public transport, your public transport costs (2nd class) are fully reimbursed from 7 kilometers one‑way. If you live closer than 7 kilometers, you receive €0.18 per kilometer.

More benefits with the flexible benefits model
Using the flexible benefits model, you can supplement this collective agreement allowance up to the fiscal maximum of €0.23 per kilometer. This allows you to make the most of your commuting reimbursement and tailor it to your personal situation.

Reimbursement of Union or Professional Association Membership Fees

You can also manage your union or professional association membership fees smartly through the flexible benefits model. By exchanging part of your gross salary for a net reimbursement, you immediately benefit from financial advantage. However, keep in mind: for many professional associations and quality registers, Radboudumc already reimburses the membership fees in accordance with the CLA umc. Therefore, always check first what applies in your specific situation.

Vacation

Working at Radboudumc means having plenty of space for rest, recovery, and your personal life. As a full‑time employee, you receive 176 vacation hours per year — that’s more than 25 vacation days. Would you like some extra time off? You can purchase up to 48 additional vacation hours using your end‑of‑year bonus or by using your work‑life balance leave. This allows you to tailor your time off to your life and your personal needs.

Leave for special occasions
In addition to your vacation days, you are entitled to seven public holidays according to the Cao umc (with May 5th becoming an additional holiday once every five years). Statutory leave — such as parental leave and care leave — is, of course, also well arranged. Even better: the statutory short‑term care leave of four weeks is extended within the Cao umc to up to twelve weeks for care of immediate family members.

Flexibility when needed
For important personal events, you are entitled to (paid) leave. And life doesn’t always fit into standard arrangements — so when needed, additional unpaid leave can be arranged in consultation with your manager. At Radboudumc, we believe that taking good care of others starts with taking good care of yourself.

Parental Leave

At Radboudumc, we believe it is important that work and family life are well balanced. That is why employees with young children are entitled to up to 9 weeks of paid parental leave. During this period, your salary is largely continued, giving you the freedom to focus on your family. Parental leave can be taken flexibly and accommodates different family situations, including birth, adoption, and foster care. All arrangements are carefully and efficiently organized, ensuring that you are fully supported throughout the process.

Pension

All employees at Radboudumc accrue their pension through the ABP pension fund. Radboudumc pays 70% of the pension contribution, ensuring that you are well supported — not only now, but also when you retire.
